Homelessness on the Rise

Today, more than 2.5 million children are living in shelter in the United States. For some, the rising cost of rent has forced their family out of their home. For others, a sudden family illness has been the difference in paying rent and providing care for a loved one. While their time in shelter is temporary, our goal is to bring a level of normalcy to the day to day by not letting milestones go unnoticed.

Magic Made, Magic Remembered

We believe in consistency and are committed to celebrating each and every birthday at our partner agencies. During a season of transition for families, we’re committed to being a steady and celebratory force. When we’re partnered with a shelter or transitional living facility, we show up each month with a JOYful front of birthday enthusiasts to make sure no birthdays fall through the cracks.

Birthday celebrations are memory makers!

LaShawn came sprinting into the gym today, knowing it was his birthday month, and threw himself into the arms of one of our regular birthday enthusiasts. They'd been talking about his birthday in October for months, and it finally arrived. Their hug brought tears to everyone's eyes---LaShawn was JOYFUL and Cyndi was right there with him. He then proceeded to dance like a superstar the rest of the party." We are consistent in these kids’ lives and they look forward to their birthday month, knowing we’ll be there to celebrate them!!!

I moved into the shelter the month of my daughter’s third birthday. I went to the store to look for a gift for her, but I only had $10 in my account. I knew I couldn’t afford the gift she wanted for her birthday. The night of the TBPP party, I watched as my little girl opened her gift-the exact baby doll she wanted! I couldn’t believe it. I’m so thankful to the volunteers that helped celebrate my daughter, and got the best gift, too! I am forever grateful for the help to celebrate her.

After volunteering at the party, my daughter said “it didn’t feel like a regular birthday party, it felt better. It felt like we were doing something really important.” She loved every minute. It also allowed us to talk more about what homelessness is and how we can help. She finished the conversation with “I know what we did tonight was really special.” This was an amazing experience.
